recorded_thefts_per_square_kilometre · 2025-01-01/2025-12-31.

2025 recorded theft and related offences (ICCS 08), CSO CJA11, extracted by CSO on 1 September 2026. Counts describe recorded incidents, including shop theft; they are not a visitor victimisation probability. Local metric is recorded theft incidents per square kilometre of police catchment. It measures spatial concentration: busy shopping and visitor centres attract more activity. No resident or visitor exposure denominator is available. Partial Dublin Metropolitan Region coverage: 38 station catchments, including suburban areas outside Dublin City. CSO generalised November 2013 boundaries are used for orientation, not exact current jurisdiction. Each published catchment has at least 90% intersection-over-union against Garda January 2026 geometry. Dundrum, Airport and Ballyfermot fail this check and are omitted; Stepaside has no separate CJA11 series. These gaps are not scored as zero. CSO 2011 population fields are deliberately not used as a denominator for 2025 crime. All statistics remain subject to CSO revision. Local geometry simplified with under 0.5% area change. The citywide score uses Ireland national priors. Local evidence adjusts only property_and_scams.

Before choosing accommodation

  1. Locate your intended stay on the map and check whether that area has evidence.
  2. Read what drives the local differences. A citywide score and an area estimate answer different questions.
  3. Check current local advice and your transport options separately. These estimates cannot assess a specific hotel, street or time of day.
